Dr. Amitav Acharya, Director and UNESCO Chair of TRANSCEND, gave a keynote address at the Institute on Disability and Public Policy (IDPP) for the ASEAN Region Opening Ceremony and the First Faculty Chat of the Comparative and International Disability Policy (CIDP) Two-Week Residency program for incoming master's candidates. The Opening Ceremony brought together members of the IDPP Advisory Board, Advisory Council and Executive Committee for the Inaugural IDPP Board Meeting held on that same date. The Two-Week Residency served as an orientation for the first student cohort pursuing their Master's of International Affairs in Comparative and International Disability Policy (CIDP), the first distance education program offered through the School of International Service at American University in Washington, DC. Dr. Acharya highlighted the importance of the ASEAN Sociocultural Community and the evolution of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations for regional prosperity.
