Human Security: From Concept to Practice

This project takes off from the earlier project which resulted in a widely acclaimed book of the same title.

In this phase, we will be looking to work with international organizations, donor agencies, national agencies, and nongovernmental organizations to develop the practical tools for human security that were already developed in the book for Northeast India ad Orissa, its two main case studies. These are:

  • Human Security Governance Index and Ranking
  • Human Security Mapping in Conflict Zones
  • Human Security Impact Assessment

The findings of this project and the importance of these human security policy instruments were presented by the TRANSCEND Global Director Professor Amitav Acharya at the "Informal Thematic Debate of the 65th Session of the United Nations General Assembly on Human Security", convened by the President of the General Assembly and held on 14 April 2011.
