The Inagural TRANSCEND Distinguished Lecuture on Global Governance

President Bharrat Jagdeo is an economist by training and was senior Minister of Finance before assuming the presidency in 1999. He was Chairman of the Board of Governors of the IMF and World Bank Group (2005-2006). Time Magazine named President Jagdeo a Hero of the Environment (2008), Winner - UN Champions of the Earth Award (2010); Appointed by U.N. Secretary General to the High-Level Advisory Group on Mobilizing Climate Change Resources. He was granted the Pushkin Medal by the Government of Russia. President Jagdeo holds an honorary Doctorate from the People’s Friendship University of Russia.  His speech, Climate Change and Global Governance: From Copenhagen to Cancun, was given at American University on October 8, 2011 from 3:30-5:00 pm.  A transcript of this speech is available below.
